Pointsec Attends Gartner IT Security Summit to Demonstrate Mobile Security Risks and Compliance

Newmarket, UK – September 8, 2005

Pointsec, the global leader and the provider of the de facto standard for mobile devices and PCs, will attend the Gartner IT Security Summit as a demonstration sponsor on mobile security risks at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on the 14-15th September.

At the Summit, Pointsec will strongly be urging companies to re-consider their mobile security in the light of the negative effect that breaches can have on unencrypted data and the repercussions this can have to the overall compliance rating of the enterprise.

Martin Allen Managing Director of Pointsec UK says " Pointsec are well placed to play the role of demonstration sponsor at the Gartner IT Security Summit this year. Pointsec was placed in the leaders quadrant in the 1H05 Mobile Data Protection Magic Quadrant' report released by Gartner in July 2005*. Now more than ever, it is clear that data leakage resulting from mobile device loss and theft can have a very real impact on a company's image and bottom line as well as their compliance rating."

At the Gartner IT Security Summit, Pointsec who can protect all mobile devices on any platform even desktops being serviced or discarded will be demonstrating how an enterprise, through authentication and encryption software, can be compliant with the maze of different compliance initiatives including:

  • Data Protection Act (UK)
  • European Union Directive 95/46/EC
  • Sarbanes-Oxley Act (US)
  • Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (US)
  • California Senate Bill 1386 (US)
  • Data Breach Law (US)
  • The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada)
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (US)
