Pointsec for PC approved by Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) for use in Australian and New Zealand Government Systems

Pointsec's endpoint data encryption solution now certified to meet the security needs of the Australian and New Zealand governments.

Stockholm, SWEDEN – November 2, 2005

Pointsec Mobile Technologies, the global leader and the provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for laptop and desktop PCs, PDAs and smartphones, today announced that its flagship product, Pointsec for PC, has been approved by Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) for use in Australian and New Zealand government systems.

The Australasian Information Security Evaluation Program (AISEP) utilises the Common Criteria International standard for objective assessment of IT security products and participates in the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement to ensure a wide range of assured IT solutions are available to meet the needs of Australian and New Zealand governments. The DSD Approved Product assessment is an adjunct process to Common Criteria Certification by AISEP or a mutually recognised scheme. Pointsec is the only IT security vendor with a mobile data protection solution certified to Common Criteria EAL4.

"Pointsec is immensely pleased to be approved by DSD and as the only vendor globally with a hard disk encryption solution certified according to Common Criteria EAL4, this is an important step for government organisations that want to store sensitive information on their PCs," said Oscar Morén, Managing Director, Pointsec Australia.

Pointsec for PC is already being used by various government agencies within Australia and New Zealand. According to Pointsec, the DSD approval is likely to see more agencies and departments deploy Pointsec for PC on their systems, both mobile and desktop, in the coming year.

Morén added, "This certification has been the product of a long and rigorous process, and gives Pointsec for PC the national standing necessary to meet the needs of both Australian and New Zealand governments and the most demanding multi-national companies, including finance, securities, and pharmaceuticals."

"Pointsec provides uniquely efficient and effective security protection for all information stored on enterprise desktop PCs, laptops, PDAs and smartphones," notes Morén. "We are seeing a real need for mobile data protection in the government sector and our products are a popular choice. They offer a combination of strong security and robust enterprise management tools, making them very suitable for government deployment."
