Pointsec launches enhanced version of 'Pointsec for PC'

New version designed to assist Indian organisations comply with global security standards

Mumbai, India – November 24, 2005

Pointsec, a subsidiary of the publicly traded Protect Data AB and the global leader and provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for endpoint devices, today launched the enhanced version of its flagship product, "Pointsec for PC". The Pointsec for PC solution will help enterprises protect critical data on laptops, notebooks and desktop PCs using encryption technology. This customized version of Pointsec for PC, the only hard disk encryption certified to Common Criteria EAL 4, has been specifically designed to assist Indian organisations comply with global security standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act and BITS.

‘Pointsec for PC' will meet the needs of large growth verticals in India that includes IT/ITES, BFSI, Telecom and Manufacturing. The Pointsec solution secures mobile PCs regardless of their actual physical location. The software provides scalable, centralized administration of disk encryption as well as flexible yet mandatory user access control. Pointsec for PC's Enforceable Mandatory Access Control feature can be used with fixed passwords, dynamic tokens, and smart cards, while the disk encryption feature secures each sector on the device's hard disk, ensuring that data will remain impenetrable even if the hard drive is removed from the PC.
