Pointsec and Charismathics team up for generic token support on security software solutions
Austin, TX, Milan, Italy and Munich, Germany – November 27, 2006 - charismathics GmbH and Eutron, one of the world's leading providers of PKI middleware and PKI tokens, and Pointsec, the leading provider of data protection, have teamed up to provide enterprises with a highly secure data access solution for full disk encryption provided by Pointsec. Pointsec will integrate Charismathics CSSI middleware and strong authentication token portfolio from Eutron with its data encryption solutions for stronger and more secure access to endpoint devices such as desktops and laptops.
"charismathics Middleware technology and their customized PKI token portfolio "plug'n'crypt", produced by Eutron, add a premium authentication solution for our joint customers. This will provide customers with greatly enhanced security for their users and data, while allowing complete independence from smart card suppliers – a clear necessity to have an open architecture which provides the freedom of choice to our customers," said Bob Egner, VP of Product Management at Pointsec Mobile Technologies. "We are confident that our interoperability with charismathics middleware, their smart card and token and mobile devices PKI solution portfolio will provide customers advanced protection for data privacy, endpoint security and regulatory compliance."
By integrating their technologies, charismathics and Pointsec are addressing a common concern of enterprises: unauthorized access to the organization's network data. Corporate "secrets," such as strategic planning, research, product development and marketing data are widely distributed throughout each enterprise on endpoint devices such as desktops, laptops and mobile devices. Unless properly protected, these devices are highly vulnerable to data theft.
"As part of a comprehensive corporate security policy, it is critically important that enterprises should be able to have the freedom of choice for suppliers of tokens, smart cards and RFID technology," said Hans – Jürgen Massing, vice president sales of charismathics. "Our token portfolio delivers premium quality to enterprises and independency which smart card module or card operating system, like i.e. native cards or java based cards or RFID solution a customer wants to implement. With our CSSI Middleware, we save customers previous and further investments. For our technology partners we enhance the speed of integration and support for multiple cards and card OS, as well as the ease of integration into applications which need to secured. Now combined with Pointsec's full disk encryption solutions, it provides an additional level of security by speeding up the integration of Pointsec's security solutions."
