Configuring a Backup Internet Connection

You can configure both a primary and a secondary Internet connection. The secondary connection acts as a backup, so that if the primary connection fails, the UTM-1 appliance remains connected to the Internet.

You have full flexibility in deciding which port to use for each Internet connection. You can assign the primary connection to use any of the following ports:

• WAN port (on Non-ADSL models)
• DSL port (on ADSL models)
• Serial port (for use with an RS232 modem)
• DMZ/WAN2 port
• USB ports (for use with a USB modem)

You can assign the secondary connection to use any of the above ports that is not being used by the primary connection.
