HP Data Protector Notebook Extension 6.20 and prior
Vulnerability Description An SQL injection vulnerability has been reported in HP Data Protector Notebook Extension and HP Data Protector for Personal Computers.
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is due to insufficient sanitation of the user supplied userid parameter in SOAP requests to the LogClientInstallation web method. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by sending specially crafted SOAP requests to an affected HP Data Protector product. Successful exploitation could result in the disclosure of sensitive information, data manipulation, or possibly command execution.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the HP Data Protector Multiple Products LogClientInstallation SQL Injection protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
