Who is Vulnerable? ClamAV Project ClamAV prior to 0.87
Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in ClamAV anti-virus product.
Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is caused due to the improper handling of UPX compressed executable files. A remote attacker may exploit this flaw by enticing a target user to open a specially crafted PE file. This vulnerability may be exploited by malicious users to inject and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the ClamAV AntiVirus UPX Compressed PE Executable Files Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
