Who is Vulnerable? Sophos Threat Detection Engine 3.35.1 and prior
Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in Sophos Anti-Virus. The vulnerability is due to an error in the way the application handles invalid values. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by causing the affected application to process a specially crafted CAB file. Successful exploitation could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the affected service.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Sophos Anti-Virus CAB Files Invalid typeCompress Parsing Heap Buffer Overflow Improved Performance protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
