Who is Vulnerable? Electric Sheep Fencing pfSense prior to 2.1.1
Vulnerability Description An input validation error vulnerability exists in Electric Sheep Fencing pfSense firewall. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user supplied input when processing the addressN parameter in firewall_aliases_edit.php. A remote authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious request using the vulnerable parameter to the firewall.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R70 / R71 / R75 and above

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the ESF pfSense webConfigurator firewall_aliases_edit.php Input Validation Error protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
