|Who is Vulnerable?|
|Vulnerability Description||Novell NetWare is a network operating system for Microsoft Windows and Linux workstations/servers. Novell NetWare client's Spooler service (nwspool.dll) is included with the Novell Client for Microsoft Windows, and provides access to remote printing services via Remote Procedure Call (RPC). A remote attacker can execute arbitrary code on an affected system by speciallycrafting a malicious RPC request and sending it to the Print Spooler RPC interface.|
This protection will detect and block malformed RPC requests.The detect mode makes it possible to track unauthorized access attempts without blocking them.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
