Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Firefox is a popular, open source web browser developed by Mozilla Foundation. A vulnerability was reported in Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox fails to properly process Animated Portable Network Graphics (APNG) image files. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a target user to open a specially crafted PNG image. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution or terminate the application, resulting in a Denial of Service condition.

Protection Overview

By enabling this protection, SmartDefense will detect and block malformed animated PNG graphics files.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Mozilla Firefox Animated PNG Processing Integer Overflow - improved performance protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
