Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description The Citrix MetaFrame products are remote access and application publishing products built on Citrix' Independent Computing Architecture (ICA). The products allow for access and control of the remote hosts as well as deploying applications. There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in Citrix MetaFrame Presentation server. The flaw is due to improper handling of user supplied data during the decryption of authentication data. This data can be delivered through the port that Independent Management Architecture (IMA) service listens on. This issue can be exploited by an unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privilege of Citrix MetaFrame Presentation server, which is System by default. In an attack case where code injection is unsuccessful, the affected Independent Management Architecture service will terminate. The service will be unavailable until it is restarted manually. In a sophisticated attack scenario where the malicious user is successful in injection and execution of the supplied code, the behaviour of the system is dependent on the nature of the injected code. Any code injected into the vulnerable component would execute in the security context of the service process. On Windows systems, the service is running as System by default.
