Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description IBM Tivoli Monitoring Express allows management of performance and availability of business systems and application resources. It features centralized and simplified management facilities to identify resources, applications, and network problems. It can build both real time and historical reports to diagnose system errors. Tivoli Monitoring Services is the framework for IBM Tivoli Monitoring Express. Tivoli Monitoring Express consists of Enterprise Monitoring Agent, Enterprise Monitoring Server, Enterprise Portal Server and Enterprise Portal. There exists a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in IBM Tivoli Monitoring Express. The flaw is due to a boundary error in the Universal Agent and various other components of Tivoli product while processing specially crafted user-supplied input. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious input to one of the vulnerable services. In an attack case where code injection is not successful the affected service will terminate abnormally. In a more sophisticated attack case, where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The code in such a case would execute within the security context of the service process, usually System.
