Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Database Server is an enterprise-level relational database application suite. To extend the functionality of the Oracle Database Server, extra packages of related program objects, i.e., procedures, functions, variables, constants, cursors, and exceptions, are provided in order to better manage the data. The included stored procedures and functions, or subprograms, are called by name and optionally passed a set of parameters. They are essentially a set of SQL statements that are stored on the server-side, usually as precompiled SQL. There exists an SQL injection vulnerability in Oracle Database Server product. The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of arguments supplied to procedures PITRIG_TRUNCATE and PITRIG_DROP in XDB.XDB_PITRIG_PKG package. A remote attacker with valid user credentials may leverage this vulnerability to inject and execute arbitrary SQL code within the security context of the database system administrator. Exploitation of this vulnerability may result in privilege escalation allowing an attacker with limited privileges to execute statements with the privileges of the database system administrator. The exact behaviour of the target system is dependent on the intention of the attacker. It may be possible for an attacker to affect the target host beyond the confines of the database which would allow manipulation of the host system.
