Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Novell ZENworks Configuration Management is an IT desktop computer management suite that is based on a client/server architecture. A management server collects and sends data of managed assets by communicating with client applications installed on computers, or via other management protocols. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Novell ZENworks Configuration Management. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation within the ZENworks Server's UploadServlet. A remote attacker can leverage this issue to upload malicious files anywhere onto the target server. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system with the privileges of the Administrator user.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R81 / R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Novell ZENworks Configuration Management UploadServlet Remote Code Execution protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
