Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A buffer overflow vulnerability has been reported in Adobe Reader and Acrobat. Adobe Acrobat and Reader products include a plugin to parse the 3D image files inside PDF documents. PDF files can include 3D images in Universal 3D format that can link to external image files, such as an Interchange File Format (IFF) file, a generic container file format. A remote attacker could exploit this issue via a malformed IFF file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow execution of arbitrary code on a target system. The vulnerability is due to a 3D file parsing input validation error in Adobe Reader and Acrobat when parsing an external texture file in IFF format. A remote attacker could trigger this issue via a specially crafted IFF file that uses run-length encoding for its pixel data. Successful exploitation will create a denial of service condition, causing the application to become non-responsive, and may allow execution of arbitrary code once a malicious file is loaded on a vulnerable system.
