Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description This is a remote code execution vulnerability. When Internet Explorer attempts to access an object that has not been initialized or has been deleted, it may corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the logged-on user. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged-on user, allowing the attacker to install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.

This protection detects and blocks attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Internet Explorer Selection Object Memory Corruption (MS11-050) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
