Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A heap buffer overflow has been reported in Sybase M-Business Anywhere. M-Business Anywhere is a mobile applications development, deployment and management platform. The vulnerability is due to a boundary error in the server while handling specially crafted SOAP requests. A remote attacker could trigger this vulnerability by sending such crafted requests via POST requests to an affected server. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will cause a heap buffer overflow condition, which may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the security context of the running service. Unsuccessful exploit attempt may cause the affected service to terminate abnormally.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to transfer malicious SOAP requests over HTTP.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Sybase M-Business Anywhere agSoap.exe Buffer Overflow protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
