Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A directory traversal vulnerability has been reported in Novell ZENworks Handheld Management. The vulnerability is due to insufficient sanitization while handling malformed incoming messages. A remote attacker may leverage this flaw by sending a specially crafted request to an affected server. Successful exploitation would allow an attacker to create files in an arbitrary location on the target server, possibly resulting in full system compromise of a target system.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block the transferring of malicious requests to the server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Novell ZENworks Handheld Management File Upload Directory Traversal protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
