    Vulnerability Description An information disclosure and elevation of privilege vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft SharePoint.

    Vulnerability DetailsThe vulnerability is due to an error in the way Microsoft SharePoint handles specially crafted URLs containing malicious JavaScript elements. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by enticing a target user to open a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will allow an attacker to read content which was not intended to be disclosed. An attacker may also be able to issue SharePoint commands in the context of an authenticated user.

    This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

    In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

    Security Gateway R75 / R71 / R70

    1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft SharePoint XSS scriptresx.ashx Elevation of Privilege (MS12-050) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
    2. Install policy on all modules.
