Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description An information disclosure vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The vulnerability is due to the way that the toStaticHTML API within Internet Explorer handles content using specific strings when sanitizing HTML. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to open a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to perform cross-site scripting attacks against affected users, resulting in script execution in the target's security context.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Internet Explorer HTML Sanitization Information Disclosure (MS12-037) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
