Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Internet Explorer. The vulnerability is due an error in the way that Internet Explorer accesses an object that has not been correctly initialized or has been deleted. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by enticing a user to open a specially crafted web-page with an affected version of Internet Explorer. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to take complete control of the target system.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to open a malicious HTML file.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Internet Explorer Memory Corruption (CVE-2013-3893) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Client Enforcement Violation.
