Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A vulnerability exists in SSL library. Remote attacker could construct a specially crafted SSL negotiation packet that could cause the library to crash.

Protection Overview

Protections that inspect traffic of the SSL protocol assume the traffic adheres to the standards defined for the protocol (such as an RFC).If this protection is set to 'Detect', those protections might not be able to inspect traffic which is not compliant with the standards for SSL. Turning on this protection filters out non-compliant traffic and ensures full inspection.It is recommended to set "Non Compliant SSL" to Prevent and to observe the logs for non-compliancy issues.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Non Compliant SSL protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  SSL Protection Violation.
Attack Information:  Non Compliant SSL
