Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a cryptographic protocol meant to provide security and data integrity for communications over TCP/IP networks. This protocol is considered obsolete and insecure, and is deprecated in favor of the more advanced TLS protocol. This protection will detect and block any use of SSLv2 protocol. This will provide protection against the DROWN (CVE-2016-0800) vulnerability, as well as against many other known SSLv2 vulnerabilities.

Protection Overview

IPS will detect and block the transferring of traffic over SSL 2.0.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Version 2.0 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  SSL Enforcement Violation.
Attack Information:  Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Version 2.0
