Who is Vulnerable? Mozilla Firefox before 16.0, Firefox ESR 10.x before 10.0.8, Thunderbird before 16.0, Thunderbird ESR 10.x before 10.0.8, and SeaMonkey before 2.13
Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Mozilla Firefox. The Chrome Object Wrapper (COW) implementation does not properly interact with failures of InstallTrigger methods. By exploiting this, remote attacker could execute arbitrary JavaScript code with chrome privileges via a crafted web site.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Mozilla Firefox generateCRMFRequest Remote Code Execution protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
