Vulnerability Description A vulnerability exists in Microsoft EDGE and Windows PDF Library that could lead to an out of bound memory access. The root cause of this vulnerability is an error when parsing a malformed JPEG2000 image header embedded within the PDF document. A successfully exploitation of this issue could allow an attacker to leak sensitive information or leverage this vulnerability to execute code under the context of the current process.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Windows PDF Library Information Disclosure (MS16-080: CVE-2016-3215) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
