Vulnerability Description A type confusion vulnerability has been reported in the Scripting Engines of Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. This vulnerability is due to improper access of objects in memory when the JSON.parse JavaScript function is called. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing the target user to open a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation could lead to information disclosure or arbitrary code execution under the security context of the target user.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Browser Remote Code Execution (MS16-129: CVE-2016-7241) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
