Who is Vulnerable? libssh 0.6 and later
Vulnerability Description An authentication bypass vulnerability exists in libssh server. The vulnerability is due to presenting the server an SSH2_MSG_USERAUTH_SUCCESS message in place of the SSH2_MSG_USERAUTH_REQUEST message. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability would allow remote attackers to gain unauthorized access into the affected system. This protection will not detect malicious traffic but instead will block connections to vulnerable versions of libssh.

Protection Overview

This protection detects attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the libssh SSH2_MSG_USERAUTH_SUCCESS Authentication Bypass (CVE-2018-10933) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
