Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the upgrading of its entire line of the Smart-1 security management appliance family. These five appliances allow for policy management, log and threat analysis, as well as central management of Check Point security gateways. In conjunction with the newly-released Next-Generation SmartEvent, the Smart-1 Appliance family offers consolidated security management and monitoring.
The new Smart-1 Appliances allow for three times more effective storage capacity, enabling years of forensic investigation. They can also store up to 100GB of logs per day and can index up to 44,000 logs per second. Additionally, report generation is greatly accelerated through Smart-1 hardware optimization. A Threat Prevention view based on weekly log data can now be generated in ten seconds or less.
The increasing complexity of the enterprise network requires more security management power and more speed. The number of threats continues to escalate, along with tremendous growth in the number of devices and applications that the network must support. In turn, the growth in data collected and monitored for threat visibility results in a much larger security management workload. However, security resources remain constrained, so organizations need solutions to streamline their security management efficiently and effectively. The updated Smart-1 line was developed with an eye towards providing more management power to process data and index logs in seconds.
“Check Point’s new Smart-1 Appliance family focuses on providing the fastest and most consolidated security management available today,” said Dorit Dor, vice president of products at Check Point Software Technologies. “The new Smart-1 line offers our customers one-stop security management and monitoring through a scalable platform perfect for business-critical networks.”
The five new Smart-1 security management appliances are: the Smart-1 3150, the Smart-1 3050, the Smart-1 225, the Smart-1 210 and the Smart-1 205. Key features of this appliance family include:
Consolidated Security Management Solution: Security, event and log management are unified in the Smart-1 Appliances. Compliance has been fully-integrated to offer comprehensive management and deliver real-time compliance monitoring across Check Point’s software blades.
Multi-Domain Management: The Smart-1 Appliances include greater policy segregation, supporting up to 200 independent security domains.
Optimization of Event Management and Threat Analysis: Offering consolidated and high-performance security management, the Smart-1 Appliance family optimizes the performance of Next-Generation SmartEvent and SmartLog – logs are collected and stored with up to 44,000 logs per second indexed for immediate search results. As reports can be generated within a matter of seconds, administrators and key stakeholders are immediately informed of relevant security activity and risks.
Reliable Platform with Advanced Management and Integrated Redundancy: As an enterprise-grade, scalable platform, the Smart-1 Appliances are built to handle business-critical networks with redundant, hot-swappable power supplies, fans and hard drives. Additionally, the Smart-1 Appliances support network connectivity through a wide variety of networking options including built-in 1GbE, and optional 10GbE and SAN interfaces – network connectivity is ten times faster for log transfers.
“The Smart-1 Appliance family provides our customers with an agile, robust, and high-capacity security management solution that offers visibility into an organization’s security posture. We are committed to building and delivering innovative security management solutions to meet the needs of our customers both today and in the future,” concluded Dor.
