IDC conducted in-depth interviews with organizations across multiple industry verticals to understand the business that Check Point has delivered. Interviewed organizations use Check Point to secure complex hybrid and multicloud environments, along with branch and perimeter networks and distributed workforces. They reported significant value from Check Point through improved security effectiveness, reduced security risk, increased operational efficiency, and optimized security-related costs. On average, IDC projects that these organizations will realize $5.99 million in annual benefits per organization ($108,900 per 1,000 IT assets secured).

Situation Overview As organizations continue to sprawl IT estates across on-premises, hybrid, and multicloud environments, complexity is the new norm. However, network security decisions cannot reflect the complexity of the environment because such a reflection would result in an exponential compounding of the resulting security and management tasks. Study Demographics IDC conducted in-depth interviews with eight organizations currently using Check Point solutions. These organizations operate in North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific and represent various industry verticals, including the government, financial services, life sciences, professional services, and wholesale sectors. They reported using Check Point to secure and support a range of hybrid IT environments, including on-premises data centers, multicloud platforms, branch locations, and distributed workforces. Interviewed organizations varied in size and complexity, with the participation of several larger organizations driving an overall enterprise profile with an average employee base of 43,097, annual revenue of $17.47 billion, and 55,039 IT assets to secure. Choice and Use of Check Point Interviewed organizations chose Check Point to deliver strong, consistent security across hybrid environments while simplifying management and scaling efficiently. They emphasized the importance of centralized policy management and visibility across on-premises, cloud, branch, and remote environments as enabling reduced complexity and improved operational control. They also cited Check Point’s strong security capabilities, including threat prevention and remediation capabilities, as being critical to maintaining a strong security posture for their business- and mission-critical environments. Several study participants also noted that Check Point provided a more favorable balance of functionality, scalability, and total cost compared with alternative solutions.
They detailed their decisions to use Check Point:

Business Value Results IDC’s research demonstrates that organizations using Check Point solutions realize substantial business value by improving security capabilities and outcomes, gaining operational efficiencies, and reducing the cost and risk associated with securing complex hybrid environments. Across study participants, Check Point serves as a foundational security platform that enables consistent protection for their on-premises infrastructure, cloud environments, branch locations, and distributed users. By centralizing security management, expanding zero trust coverage, and automating routine security tasks, interviewed customers have improved their overall security posture while operating more efficiently and cost effectively.
Interviewed organizations emphasized that the maturity and breadth of Check Point’s security capabilities have played a central role in delivering this value. They cited improved threat detection and prevention, faster remediation of vulnerabilities, and reduced operational risk as important benefits, particularly in environments where downtime or security incidents can have significant financial or business consequences.

IDC quantified the financial impact of these benefits achieved with Check Point based on the experiences of the interviewed organizations.
On average, IDC calculates that interviewed organizations will achieve $5.99 million in average annual benefits per organization ($108,900 per 1,000 IT assets secured) in these areas of value (Figure 1, next page):
• IT staff productivity benefits: Centralized management, automation, and improved visibility reduce staff time spent on management, patching, and investigation, enabling teams to not only secure more assets but deliver improved security outcomes. IDC projects average annual benefits in staff efficiencies and productivity gains of $2.71 million per organization ($49,300 per 1,000 IT assets secured).

IDC calculates average benefits of $2.41 million per organization ($43,800 per 1,000 IT assets secured), driven by reduced security-related costs, fewer operational disruptions, and enhanced compliance capabilities.
• Business productivity benefits: Improved baseline security, less unplanned downtime, and faster incident resolution help business and IT teams maintain productivity in mission-critical operations and help create greater business confidence. IDC projects average annual business productivity benefits of $718,500 per organization ($13,100 per 1,000 IT assets secured) from higher revenue and operational efficiencies.
• Security and infrastructure cost reductions: Check Point enables tool consolidation, reduces vendor sprawl, and ensures more efficient scaling across hybrid environments. IDC estimates average annual security and infrastructure cost reductions of $148,200 per organization ($2,700 per 1,000 IT assets secured) through lower platform and licensing costs.

Security Capabilities and Security Outcome Benefits Interviewed organizations reported that Check Point has enabled improved security outcomes by allowing for centralized policy management and unified visibility across their on-premises, branch, cloud, and remote environments. Having a centralized approach allows for the application of consistent controls across diverse network traffic while maintaining clear visibility into threats, misconfigurations, and policy enforcement. Integrated threat prevention at the network layer, delivered through robust firewall capabilities, improves block rates for malware, phishing, and other attacks before they reach users or applications.
Beyond prevention, interviewed organizations described how Check Point has enhanced security outcomes through improved exposure management, identity-aware enforcement, and automation. With Check Point, study participants leverage prioritized exposure and misconfiguration detection to identify and remediate risk more quickly, reducing the likelihood of high-impact incidents. Identity-aware policies have improved access control by enforcing security decisions based on user or group context rather than network location alone, supporting expanded zero trust initiatives. Automation and orchestration further strengthen results by enabling faster, more consistent responses to threats, reducing reliance on manual intervention and helping organizations contain incidents before they disrupt business operations.
Study participants provided examples of these enhanced security capabilities:
Enhanced security capabilities for core firewalls (Government, EMEA): “Features of Check Point like identity awareness and terminal identity agents add security layers beyond a basic firewall, strengthening our overall security posture.”
Fast remediation when security vulnerabilities appear (Financial Services/Banking, EMEA): “Check Point’s maturity allows fast remediation of serious vulnerabilities, including rapid development and deployment of new code. This capability ensures a strong cybersecurity posture.”
Strong threat detection (Financial Services, EMEA): “Threat detection is one of Check Point’s key features. It scans servers, VMs, and endpoints; identifies vulnerabilities; and integrates Check Point ThreatCloud intelligence with other feeds to detect known malware, phishing campaigns, and more.”

Fundamentally, study participants credited Check Point with enabling them to provide more robust security coverage across their hybrid environments. One interviewed customer from the Financial Services sector commented: “Check Point is our primary security perimeter, protecting public-facing channels, branches, and ATMs. Its role is critical because if it goes down, all channels are impacted.” Another financial services customer explained: “One of Check Point’s major benefits is enabling zero trust. It now covers about 95% of our network traffic, significantly improving security.” As shown in Figure 2 (below), interviewed organizations linked covering 35% more network traffic to their use of Check Point while also more than doubling (144% higher) the share of their overall environments covered with zero trust security capabilities.
The value of Check Point for study participants becomes even more evident in terms of security outcomes. With Check Point, they can better identify, target, and block potentially malicious actors. One interviewed Life Sciences customer noted: “Our biggest challenge was false positives in that we were getting too many alerts that weren’t actionable. Check Point has helped us reduce the number of false positives. Now our false-positive rate is about half of what it was.” Figure 3 (next page) lays out the substantial impact Check Point has had on security results for study participants, with robust improvements in the share of malware (32% higher), exploit (24% higher), and phishing (16% higher) block rates achieved, thereby greatly limiting the business risk associated with these types of security threats.

Check Point has also enabled study participants to detect and prevent a far greater share of security threats in time to prevent negative outcomes. An EMEA financial services organization explained: “Threat detection is a core strength of Check Point. It scans servers, VMs, and endpoints, using global intelligence to identify malware and phishing campaigns. Since deployment, detection and prevention rates have increased from about 50% to 80%.” As shown in Figure 4 (next page), study participants reported detecting 24% more threats and preventing 57% more threats from becoming security events with Check Point, underscoring the extent to which Check Point has limited their actual security exposure. These improvements in security outcomes have tangible benefits for study participants, who reported reducing their actual costs of security breaches (e.g., lost revenue, productivity losses, and remediation costs) by an average of 60% with Check Point, saving an average of $1.39 million per organization per year.

Study participants linked these improvements in security capabilities and outcomes to more effective compliance capabilities, which further reduce material operational risk. An EMEA financial services customer commented: “Check Point provides audit-ready evidence and helps enforce major compliance frameworks … This makes regulatory audits faster and easier.” On average, study participants cited efficiencies for teams responsible for ensuring compliance of 18% with Check Point and reported that they can prepare for a security audit in 48% less time with Check Point (Table 3, below).

Security Operations Team Efficiencies Interviewed organizations described security operations efficiencies achieved through the use of Check Point as a core benefit. They explained that Check Point has enabled more efficient security operations by centralizing visibility, policy management, and threat data across hybrid environments, reducing the day-to-day burden on their SOC and security teams. As a result, security analysts spend less time correlating alerts, reviewing logs across multiple tools, and manually validating events. Several organizations noted reductions in false positives and faster threat identification, allowing teams to focus on higher-value investigative and remediation activities rather than routine monitoring and triage.
Study participants also linked improvements in security team effectiveness to automation, orchestration, and exposure management capabilities gained with Check Point that reduce reliance on manual intervention. Their security teams leverage automated responses, prioritized remediation guidance, and identity-aware controls to accelerate incident response and enforce security consistently across users and environments. As a result, interviewed organizations secure significantly more IT assets without commensurate staff increases, avoid adding headcount to handle growth, and operate their SOCs more proactively rather than reactively.
Interviewed organizations provided examples of these benefits:
More efficient security team due to functionalities (Financial Services, EMEA): “Our security operations team is about 25%–30% more efficient with Check Point thanks to faster policy configuration, centralized visibility, and a single management portal.”
Expanded team capabilities (Financial Services, EMEA): “Without Check Point, we would need 5–6 additional team members to maintain the same level of effectiveness … It allows us to achieve the same security outcomes with fewer resources thanks to centralized management and automation.”
Importance of patching effectiveness (Government, North America): “The number of firewall patches would change without Check Point because we now have updates every few minutes … Without it, updates would depend on staffing and awareness, so it’s probably ten times more efficient than what we could do with staff.”
Table 4 (next page) underscores the significant value that Check Point drives through security team and other staff efficiencies. As shown, study participants attributed 44% more efficient security teams to their use of Check Point, including substantial 54% efficiencies in patching activities. Additionally, they cited Check Point’s impact in reducing the frequency of security-related problems and support for faster resolution of problems in driving 16% average efficiencies for their helpdesk and incident management teams.

As reflected in Figure 5 (next page), security team efficiencies mean substantial gains in coverage capacity for study participants. On average, they reported that a security operations team member can provide coverage and security for 78% more IT assets with Check Point, a substantial gain of more than 2,000 IT assets per team member.

Security Solution and Infrastructure Cost Savings Interviewed organizations also reported that Check Point has helped them reduce direct security solution and infrastructure management costs by consolidating multiple security functions into a single, centrally managed platform and reducing reliance on point products from multiple vendors. They described retiring or downsizing other firewall, network security, and monitoring tools while maintaining or improving security coverage, lowering licensing, maintenance, and support costs. Several organizations also highlighted more efficient scaling of security capacity, particularly in hybrid and cloud environments, which has allowed them to avoid disruptive upgrades and better align infrastructure spend with actual demand. A professional services firm in North America explained: “Check Point is the most full-featured and cheapest solution out there relative to what we’re getting. We got in at the ground floor of a product that’s head and shoulders above [other solutions] in terms of logging and functionality.”
As shown in Figure 6 (next page), study participants have reduced their overall security-related costs by 25% with Check Point, including 16% lower costs for security solutions and 33% efficiencies for their teams responsible for running their security platforms.

Improved Business Performance and Outcomes Interviewed organizations also described how Check Point has enabled more efficient and effective business operations by reducing security-related outages and minimizing the operational impact of security events. They cited improved stability and availability resulting from centralized management, consistent policy enforcement, and faster identification and remediation of issues, which helped prevent misconfigurations and security incidents from escalating into service disruptions. When outages or incidents did occur, study participants noted faster resolution times supported by clearer visibility, prioritized remediation guidance, and responsive vendor support, reducing downtime affecting mission- and business-critical systems. An EMEA governmental organization commented on the importance of Check Point to its operational continuity: “When our main data center firewall is down, national operations halt, which affects sales, loans, background checks, and transportation. Check Point is critical to continuity.”
As shown in Table 5 (next page), study participants have substantially reduced the business and operational impact of unplanned downtime with Check Point. On average, they reported resolving unexpected outages 78% faster with Check Point, contributing to their ability to limit productivity losses associated with downtime by 66% on average and revenue losses by 79% on average.

Several interviewees linked improved security reliability and confidence to their ability to support digital initiatives, scale online services, and avoid revenue losses associated with downtime or major security incidents. ROI Analysis IDC evaluated the financial impact of Check Point solutions using its standard discounted cash flow–based Business Value methodology over a three-year period. Over the three-year analysis period, IDC calculates that interviewed organizations will achieve discounted benefits of $14.18 million per organization ($257,700 per 1,000 IT assets), compared with average discounted investment costs of $3.43 million per organization ($62,200 per 1,000 IT assets). These levels of benefits and investment costs will result in an average three-year ROI of 314%, reflecting the significant benefits realized relative to the investment required. Interviewed organizations will reach a payback period of approximately six months from their deployment of Check Point, indicating rapid value realization driven by early gains in security risk reduction, operational efficiency, and productivity improvements (Table 7, next page).

Appendix A: Methodology IDC’s standard Business Value methodology was utilized for this white paper. This methodology is based on gathering data from organizations that are currently using Check Point as the foundation for the model. Based on interviews with these study participants, IDC has calculated the benefits and costs to these organizations related to their use of Check Point. IDC conducted its quantitative analysis for this study by gathering benefit information during the interviews using a before-and-after assessment of the impact of using Check Point. In this study, the benefits included security team efficiencies, security-related cost savings, and reduced risk-related costs.
Other IDC Business Value assumptions are summarized as follows:
• Time values are multiplied by burdened salary (salary + 28% for benefits and overhead) to quantify efficiency and manager productivity savings. For the purposes of this analysis, based on the geographic locations of the interviewed organizations, IDC has used assumptions of an average fully loaded $100,000 per year salary for IT staff members and an average fully loaded salary of $70,000 for non-IT staff members.
