§ 164.308(a)(4)(ii)(A) Isolating healthcare clearinghouse functions (required)

Implement procedures that protect the EPHI of the clearinghouse from unauthorized access by the larger organization (in cases where the clearinghouse is a part of a larger organization).

A core Check Point capability, Check Point's perimeter, internal, Web, and endpoint solutions can cordon off a healthcare clearinghouse (or other department or function) from other parts of the business. Check Point solutions can segregate the healthcare clearinghouse within the same physical or virtual network.

Check Point products can segment and enforce security access policy to clearinghouse functions and EPHI in a variety of deployments. VPN-1 can establish a secure network perimeter around EPHI, separating it from an external network. InterSpect allows internal network segmenting, or zoning, to provide security for EPHI inside a network. VPN-1 and Connectra provide access control and security for external users who need remote access to EPHI. And Check Point Endpoint Security provides access control security for endpoint systems that contain or access EPHI.

Check Point also provides the ability to segregate the administration and management of security policies and log data of a healthcare clearinghouse from other departments or businesses within the larger organization.
