Overview

The Nortel Networks Nortel Switched Firewall (NSF) 51x4 is a high-performance "Secured by Check Point" appliance integrating FireWall-1 Next Generation. Nortel Switched Firewall 51x4 enables enterprise and service provider customers to deploy up to 250 distinct security policies from a single hardware platform. Additionally, Switched Firewall 51x4 offers up to 1.6 Gbps throughput and 500,000 concurrent connections, as well as the ability to add a Switched Firewall Accelerator (SFA) for higher performance, load balancing, and high availability features.

The NSF 5124 has a VPN Acceleration capability to improve encryption performance when running VPN services from VPN-1 Power.
