Check Point Software Technologies and U.S. Robotics Team to Provide Comprehensive Security on Windows NT Remote Access Server
Check Point Integrates Market-leading FireWall-1 Security Software with U.S. Robotics' NT-based EdgeServer Platform
Redwood City, CA —
Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKPF) today announced that it will integrate its market-leading Check Point FireWall-1 security software with U.S. Robotics' (NASDAQ: USRX) newly announced NT-based EdgeServer for the Total Control Enterprise Network Hub.
Check Point FireWall-1, the worldwide firewall market share leader in 1995, according to an IDC study from February, 1996, combines Internet, Intranet and remote user access control with authentication, encryption and network address translation services to deliver an integrated security solution that scales to meet the demands of organizations large and small.
By integrating Check Point FireWall-1, U.S. Robotics can offer the same high level of security provided by a full-featured, best-of-class firewall product directly on its EdgeServer platform. This provides customers with a single information access platform that merges Windows NT Server computing, remote access communications, and network security. Integration with the EdgeServer platform allows FireWall-1's comprehensive access control, authentication, and encryption capabilities to be directly deployed at key remote access points. Multiple secure remote access points can be enabled and managed from a central control point via FireWall-1's distributed management architecture. Benefits to customers include improved network performance, security, reliability and manageability.
"Enterprise customers worldwide are deploying firewall solutions at strategic locations across their network such as remote access points," said Dr. Deborah Triant, president and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "Integrating FireWall-1 directly into U.S. Robotics Total Control Hub provides our customers with a highly integrated, scaleable and cost-effective secure remote access solution."
"Security is a critical function that many of our customers wish to deploy in tandem with their remote access solutions," said Michael Santiago, product marketing manager of U.S. Robotics Network Systems Division. "By integrating Check Point FireWall-1 into our EdgeServer remote access platform, we feel confident that we are offering customers the high level of security they require."
Under the terms of the agreement, U.S. Robotics will bundle Check Point FireWall-1 with its EdgeServer remote access servers. The agreement is part of U.S. Robotics EdgeWare ISV Program, a program for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to enable new applications for U.S. Robotics' EdgeServer.
