Proginet's SecurPass Enterprise Delivers Microsoft NT & Windows Users Industry's First Plug & Play Security Integration Product

Integration of Check Point FireWall-1 with Mainframes, Microsoft SNA Server 4, and IBM OS/390 Security Server Are Also Announced

GARDEN CITY, NY—March 16, 1998 – Proginet Corporation today introduced SecurPass EnterpriseTM , a highly functional and scalable version of its SecurPass product line, which enables large organizations to extend the reach of mainframe information security systems to Windows NT and other client server networks. SecurPass Enterprise plugs a huge security exposure faced by almost every large company, reduces administrative costs, supports Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.'s (Nasdaq: CHKPF) Check PointTM FireWall-1, and can be installed without client software.

Serious Security Exposures Reduced

SecurPass Enterprise addresses a serious security exposure that most companies face. When a user's logon privileges are suspended or deleted on one computer system, it often takes hours or even days to eliminate logon privileges elsewhere on the network. Consequently, when an employee or contractor leaves a company, the now ex-insider may continue to have access to sensitive information for an extended period of time. SecurPass Enterprise solves this problem by immediately relaying the revocation or deletion of someone's account between the mainframe and client/server networks, ensuring that the ex-employee is instantly denied access throughout the enterprise network.

SecurPass Enterprise automatically maps a user account across multiple systems. Transactions supported by SecurPass Enterprise include user account suspensions, account resumptions, expirations, and deletions, as well as customer specific post processing. SecurPass Enterprise also enables password synchronization across the enterprise network. SecurPass Enterprise offers a powerful new feature called account masking which allows account names that are similar but not identical to be dynamically mapped to each other based upon a customer defined formula.

SecurPass Enterprise also ensures that a consistent set of rules is enforced across the enterprise network governing what information passwords may contain. For example, some computers require that passwords cannot contain certain characters, or must be a minimum or maximum length. SecurPass Enterprise solves this problem with a feature called "Harmonization of Password Length and Content Rules." This feature works between mainframes and client-server networks, and between IBM mainframes running entirely different security systems.

Integration of Check Point FireWall-1 with Mainframe Security

Proginet also announced support for Check Point's industry leading FireWall-1 enterprise security solution. SecurPass Enterprise integrates FireWall-1 with large IBM mainframe enterprises by alerting mainframe operators and security administrators to perimeter security violations detected by FireWall-1. Proginet has joined Check Point's Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity (OPSECTM ) Alliance, SecurPass Enterprise has been submitted for OPSEC certification.

"Proginet's membership in the OPSEC Alliance helps our customers integrate the industry's leading firewall with the IBM mainframe, the storehouse of more than seventy per cent of enterprise data", said Asheem Chandna, vice president of business development for Check Point Software Technologies, Inc. "This is another important step in making OPSEC the standard-bearer for customers seeking to implement a comprehensive enterprise-wide security solution."

No Desktop Code Required

"SecurPass Enterprise does not require software at the user desktop, and need only be installed on one server within the company", said Joe Mohen, Proginet's chairman and founder. "This reduces the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by minimizing both software installation costs and the elapsed time for deployment by an estimated 90%, when compared to older products."

Broad Platform Support

SecurPass Enterprise supports the major mainframe security systems including IBM's OS/390 Security Server (formerly called RACF), CA-ACF2 and CA-Top Secret. Proginet's SecurPass and SecurPass Enterprise provide complete support for all computers that can be connected to Windows Networks, including Windows NT Workstation and Server, Windows 95, Windows for Workgroups, and OS/2. Password changes can be propagated to UNIX systems and to Novell NetWare, including both the NetWare Bindery and to Novell Directory Services.

On Windows NT, SecurPass Enterprise is consistent with Microsoft's Unified Logon, the native security platform of the operating system, ensuring compatibility with all Microsoft BackOffice certified applications. Other security products limit their Microsoft security compatibility to interactive logins.

Active Directory Migration Path

"Our enterprise customers with mainframe environments tell us they need to efficiently integrate both the Windows NT Server and mainframe security environments for maximum convenience and utility" said Paul Morse of Microsoft Corporation. " SecurPass Enterprise meets those needs today and establishes a solid foundation for moving into the future with integration of Microsoft Active Directory, to be introduced with Windows NT Server 5.0." SecurPass Enterprise is also designed to support SNA Server 4.0 and provides advanced host security integration between the dissimilar security environments using the high capacity and reliable Microsoft SNA Server product.

SecurPass Enterprise becomes generally available in the second quarter.
