Who is Vulnerable? Symantec Endpoint Protection prior to 12.1-RU6-MP5
Vulnerability Description A cross-site-scripting vulnerability has been reported in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation on user-supplied input. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing authenticated users to click on a crafted link. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to execute malicious script code in the context of the victim's browser.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Cross-Site Scripting (CVE-2016-3652) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
